Interior Perimeter Drainage, Two Sump Pumps & Yard Drainage Tie-In
Interior Waterproofing, Sump Pumps & Yard Drainage
The problem
Water reaching the interior perimeter of a Canfield basement, addressed together with exterior drainage work on the same property.
Contributing factors
- Water arriving at the interior perimeter of the basement rather than at a single visible entry point.
- The installed perimeter system uses two sump pumps with a full-length SDR35 footer drain and a stone bed.
- Yard and roof water were addressed in the same project — a gravel-bedded french drain trench and downspout drain runs ending at a pop-up emitter.
Recommended & installed solution
Cut and excavate a perimeter trench along the interior foundation walls, drill weep holes into the bottom course of block, and install a pipe-socked SDR35 perforated footer drain bedded in #57 river rock stone, routed to two sump pumps. Carry a DMX air-gap strip up the wall base and restore concrete over the trench. Exterior: a gravel-bedded french drain trench with long-run PVC pipe, plus downspout drain runs connected at the foundation and discharging at a pop-up emitter.
Drainage, sump & foundation work
- Interior perimeter footer drain with weep holes and air-gap strip
- Two sump pump installations in the perimeter system
- Concrete restoration over the interior trench
- Exterior french drain trench with gravel bedding
- Downspout drain runs with pop-up emitter discharge
